Our Firm

Join Our Team – Graphic Designer

Jarrard Phillips Cate & Hancock, Inc. has a mission to make healthcare better. We’re a top-10 nationally-ranked strategic communications consulting firm devoted to helping healthcare leaders succeed in high-stakes moments.

Sounds like serious work – and it is – but we have a lot of fun making it all happen. And we work in a barn (when we’re not working from home).

Our design team helps bring the smart and strategic thinking of our firm and our clients to life through digital and print media. The work is typically fast-paced and ranges from quick-turn crises to longer-term branding and marketing executions.

We’re seeking an in-house Graphic Designer with 2+ years of experience with an impeccable portfolio to provide creative services to our healthcare clients in support of their campaign initiatives and to support our firm’s internal branding and business development efforts.

About that barn… Our office is a beautiful historic horse barn conversion in the heart of Maryland Farms and it’s just one of the many reasons we’ve been named one of Nashville’s “Best Places to Work” five years in a row.

Job description

You love logo design, typography and nerd out over the branding process. When crafting a client’s website, you know how to translate their brand to WordPress. You also know your way around InDesign and Photoshop. You are the next step in the evolution of a designer.

As a Graphic Designer at Jarrard Inc., you’ll be responsible for designing everything under the sun. We’re talking identity, web, digital, print — the works. While much of the work involves designing and developing client brands and websites, you’ll also be asked to set up and work on social graphics, one pagers and other print and digital design executions. This is a highly collaborative role with a team that is looking to add a highly collaborative teammate.

  • Create logos, mockups, PowerPoint decks and print collateral (brochures, business cards, etc.) that adhere to our clients’ brand identities and our own.
  • Design and support WordPress website projects and email marketing campaigns (WordPress/HTML experience is required).
  • Collaborate with creative and client teams on strategic/branding projects.

What’s Expected

  • You might have some kind of design degree, but a strong portfolio and a solid personality matter most.
  • 2+ years of experience as a graphic designer/front-end website designer with solid skills in the previously mentioned areas.
  • You live in the Adobe Creative Cloud, know WordPress and are a Mac user. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite is required. Working knowledge of HTML/CSS is a plus.
  • You have a keen eye for typography, composition and familiarity with current design trends and best practices in digital.
  • Critical thinking, strong communication skills and a positive attitude are required – check your ego at the door.
  • Time management – ability to work quickly and effectively to meet short turnaround times while balancing multiple projects and maintaining perfectionist-level attention to detail.
  • Portfolio site showcasing illustration, web and layout skills and technical expertise for digital and print. Please submit a link to your portfolio to [email protected]

What you can expect from us:

  • High stakes work that makes healthcare better.
  • A collegial workplace with understanding, innovative co-workers who care as much as you do about getting the work right.
  • Encouragement to ask probing questions and openness to new ideas.
  • Creative problem solving alongside clients who see you as a partner, not a vendor.
  • Investment in your growth and development via our professional development platform.
  • Competitive pay and excellent benefits including health/dental/vision, 401k, vacation and bonus.
  • One of our core values is “Celebrate the Wins” and our firm wins a lot.

The Fine Print

This is a full-time position (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm), to be based in Nashville. For the past two years, we’ve all been remote, but we will be returning to the office – you know, the Barn – in a hybrid manner by the end of the winter. We will want our teammates in the office at least two days a week.

At Jarrard, we take pride in our efforts toward building a diverse workforce. We value and celebrate the uniqueness of individuals and the different perspectives the provide. We offer equal opportunity employment regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability status, age, marital status, or protected veteran status.
