Over the course of his career, Johnson has overseen the development of media and public relations campaigns as well as internal and crisis communications programs across multiple industries, including healthcare, insurance, clinical laboratories, automotive, financial services and pharmaceutical. Most recently, Johnson served as vice president of public relations and chief communications officer for Norton Healthcare — Louisville’s leading health system with five hospitals and 13,000 employees.
He has deep experience guiding communications strategies through corporate mergers and directing issues management for local and regional healthcare crises.
A Philadelphia native, Johnson is board chairman of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana and the former board chair of Horizon House, a Philadelphia-region non-profit assisting the developmentally challenged, homeless and those with substance abuse issues. He is a former board member of Metro United Way in Louisville and Philadelphia’s Diversified Community Services agency.
Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Drexel University and his Master of Business Administration degree from Eastern University.
