Emme Nelson Baxter brings 20-plus years of experience ranging from newsrooms to corporate settings to the thrilling startup world. She focuses on urgent issue-management campaigns as well as long-term transformational initiatives. A bridge builder, she helps clients articulate their visions and customize well-defined paths to connect those visions to relevant stakeholders. Deeply rooted in the community, she is keenly involved in cultivating Nashville – America’s healthcare industry epicenter – as a client.

Prior to joining the firm, Baxter was principal of Nelson Baxter Communications, LLC, advising on media relations, internal communications, crisis management and campaign development. Earlier, at The Tennessean, she was an award-winning business editor who also spent a stint as a Money section reporter at USA TODAY.

As director of corporate communications at Hospital Corporation of America, she focused on internal communications during a period of sweeping change for HCA – including a federal investigation, restructuring spinoffs, downsizing and the successful rebranding of the investor-owned healthcare system. Baxter began her career in the communications office at University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art from Southern Methodist University. She has served on the boards of The Conservancy for The Parthenon & Centennial Park, Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, Harpeth Hall School, The Nashville Board of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Nashville Children’s Theater and the Nashville Tree Foundation.
