Kristen Hinton joined Jarrard Inc.’s of counsel team in 2021, offering our clients sharp insight gained from her robust career in strategic communications, government relations and media for healthcare providers.

Prior to joining the firm, Hinton led communications and government relations at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, New Mexico’s largest integrated healthcare system of hospitals, multi-specialty medical group and health plan.

There, Hinton was responsible for all public policy and government relations efforts at the federal and state levels. She managed federal advocacy efforts with national healthcare policy makers and oversaw state legislative issues development. She also led media, public and community relations as well as employee communications programs and ensured that all aligned with organizational priorities and generated measurable results.

Other aspects of that role included directing crisis communications for the system and guiding development of communications plans that ensured consistent messages to support the Presbyterian brand.

Earlier in her career, Hinton created the public relations practice at Bouvier Kelly Inc., a full-service advertising agency in Greensboro, North Carolina. She also gained valuable experience at L.C. Williams & Associates, a public relations and research firm in Chicago, where she managed a variety of national accounts, developed strategic public relations programs and counseled clients on media relations issues and brand positioning.

Hinton holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Butler University and master’s in communication from Northwestern University.
