Prior to joining Jarrard, Brereton was a research manager for Graduate Medical Education at HCA Healthcare, where she collaborated with faculty and residents to translate clinical questions into scientific research studies. Brereton made technical recommendations related to study design, conducted data analysis and assisted with the interpretation of results. She gained extensive experience extracting and analyzing data from medical claims and electronic health record databases.
In addition to her time at HCA Healthcare, Brereton served as a California epidemiologic investigative service fellow at the California Department of Public Health. There, she prepared scientific manuscripts, reports, fact sheets and presentations for diverse stakeholders of the Essentials for Childhood Initiative. Aiming to reduce adverse childhood experiences, Brereton used data to educate about the need for primary prevention strategies to strengthen economic supports, create social norm change and increase protective factors that promote safe and nurturing environments for children.
Brereton earned a master’s degree in public health in epidemiology and a bachelor’s in human health and mathematics from Emory University.
