Senior Vice President, Marketing and Strategic Positioning

We are seeking a senior leader to lead the growth of our Strategic Positioning service line, as well as the strategic marketing function of Jarrard itself, JMarketing.

The Strategic Positioning component includes advising c-suite leaders at some of the nations’ most prominent healthcare brands through moments of growth, market positioning, brand elevation, value proposition enhancement, and other business imperatives. The JMarketing aspect of the role encompasses overall leadership of the in house function, which is comprised of both marketing and thought leadership. JMarketing objective is to elevate the firm’s overall visibility, promote services and offerings, business development and create content engagement with clients and prospects in support of growth.

Senior Vice Presidents manage specific functions, teams, client relationships, and are accountable for ensuring the firm meets client expectations and firm goals. They lead and inspire teams of talented colleagues; and they eagerly participate in business development to grow the firm.

At this level, it’s imperative the leader has deep healthcare experience – either from a health system or health services company, or from an agency having worked with healthcare clients. Successful candidates will have deep and demonstrated subject matter expertise in both marketing and communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Service Line Leadership
  • Lead the growth of the firm’s Strategic Positioning service line, including understanding market opportunities and competitive forces, maturing existing offerings and developing new, industry-leading offerings to accelerate the firm’s growth
  • Leverage deep industry expertise to guide firm leadership in opportunities to invest in and grow strategic positioning and marketing capabilities
  • Demonstrate digital expertise to advance the firm’s expertise, grow talent, and attract new business.
  • Work in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and practice leadership to identify market-specific opportunities for growth
  • Collaborate with firm leaders, business development, and Jarrard Marketing (“JMarketing”) to build and implement go-to-market strategies for key offerings

CLIENT SERVICE / TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with clients & prospects, position the firm’s deliverables to advantage in engagement conversations, and identify client service (growth) avenues
  • Confidently lead and collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, develop scopes of work to meet clients where they are, and manage project teams to successful client deliverables
  • Ensure client satisfaction with quality work that is on time and on budget
  • Lead and manage client teams to build strategies and programs for clients
  • Manage project fiscal outcomes through hands on oversight of budget & team productivity within context of pricing

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Represent the firm at networking events and conferences in order to raise firm brand awareness, identify complementary partners, develop pipeline, and understand competitive dynamics
  • Source new business opportunities by leveraging existing network to introduce the firm and its capabilities.  Help identify, pitch and secure digital-first business opportunities with new and existing clients of the firm that are complementary to the firm’s areas of focus and service lines.
  • Collaborate with practice leadership and the business development team to develop proposals, pitch, & win new business
  • Ensure clients are aware of our full set of high-value services where appropriate
  • Participate in and contribute ideas for firm thought leadership activities

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY FOR JMARKETING FUNCTION

  • Overall management responsibility for “JMarketing”, which includes both Marketing and Thought Leadership.  Partner with Chief Growth Officer and SLT to own and drive this function’s performance, strategy, & execution in support of the Firm’s brand and growth goals.
  • Directly manage JMarketing team members and coach them to their highest and best performance in support of the Firm’s positioning and growth goals.
  • Establish functional KPIs, goals, project objectives, and operating procedures/deployments for JMarketing work, as well as client engagements that encompass digital components.
  • Develop digital and other marketing & communications strategies and tactics to assure a crisp marketing plan for the Firm’s service lines and key offerings inclusive of digital channels and Thought Leadership
  • Assure JMarketing teams are functionally optimizing digital marketing opportunities to support brand awareness, buyer engagement, lead generation, and ultimately growth.
  • Make recommendations for investments in tools, resources, and channel relationships that will help advance the Firm’s overall goals and the efficiency of the JMarketing function
  • Assure visibility of JMarketing editorial plans, priorities, and materials to all Firm colleagues; package shareable content for Consulting colleagues to leverage in relationship and organic business development
  • Partner with Chartis Marketing leadership to share best practices, identify opportunities for co-marketing and identify cohesive strategies to advance marketing expertise
  • Stay up to date on technologies, tools and regulations impacting healthcare systems and health services organizations, helping Jarrard develop positions and visions that advance our firm and supports our clients.

FIRM MANAGEMENT

  • Model and teach best practices in leadership roles, client & project management
  • Actively participate in appropriate firm management meetings and/or discussions
  • Accomplish billable goals and help ensure your direct reports do as well
  • Contribute ideas for Jarrard University, the firm’s professional development program, based on growth and development needs of your team

PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT

  • Demonstrate and support Jarrard Mission, Vision and Values
  • Lead teams of communications professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and support
  • Foster a collaborative work environment, promote professional growth, and ensure the team consistently delivers high-quality work within established budgets and timelines

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • Bachelors degree; advanced degree in communications, operations, organizational design/development or related fields
  • At least 15 years’ relevant experience in healthcare communications, marketing, operations or administrative roles – direct healthcare experience is necessary as our clients value no learning curve on the industry overall
  • Open to change and flexible in a fast-paced environments – both internally and that of our clients.

Salary range: $205,000-$225,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
