In addition to his work at Jarrard Inc., he is CEO of Lawson & Associates, a consultancy he formed in 2017 to assist healthcare providers in operations and strategic advisory.
Prior to starting his eponymous firm, Lawson was managing director and co-lead of hospital M&A for Raymond James where he assisted rural health systems in acquisitions and financing. He earlier served 16 years as executive vice president in both operations and development for Health Management Associates (HMA).
Lawson began his healthcare career as a hospital staff employee, rising to serve as CEO at multiple hospitals. He spent the last 20 years in corporate executive leadership at investor-owned healthcare corporations — including Humana, HCA, Phymatrix, and Health Management — and at joint ventures with not-for-profit systems as well as physician investors.
He earned his Bachelor of Business degree, with a concentration in Management Information Systems, from the University of Notre Dame and his Master’s in Health Administration from Duke University.
Widely published and acclaimed for his insight, Lawson was awarded Modern Healthcare’s Up and Comer Award in 1995. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a former FINRA Certified Investment Banking Representative (Series 63 and 79).
